Well I’ve been a bit busy for the past few months. Long story short we moved house. Myself, the Hubby, the Tropical fish, Mr. Jaws and the two Fur Babies
Things have been stressful for poor Oliver and he has a problem or two which I will go in to in my next post. Just wanted to assure anyone who might be interested (!) that I am not dead :p More to follow soon, hopefully.

•June 29, 2009 • 1 CommentHere are a few recent photos of the family
The first one on top is Mr. Jaws old tank, now home to 14 tropical fish (we’ve had a few casualties, sadly!). In the next shot Oliver is shown in one of his new favourite spots, the kitchen sink!! Not sure what that’s all about, maybe it’s cool for him in this warm weather we are enjoying lately. Then we have a close up of one of our new tropical babies, next we see Poppy showing off next to her portrait, hehehe. My last photo features Poppy again, showing her for the true sun worshipper she is
, she will seek out any patch of sun light to bask in, often on her back, legs sprawled everywhere!! Such a lady!
Something Fishy

Our long suffering goldfish, Mr. Jaws, finally got a new tank! Mr. Jaws is 6 years old and one of the biggest fish i have ever seen
For a long time now we have been talking about getting a new tank so he could have the space to enjoy himself and to help cut down on the need for so many water changes! Big fish = Lots of fish poo!!!!
Now even though we were talking about it, we kept putting it off, until The Hubby took the initiative and surprised me last week with a whole new tank and cabinet. I didn’t even mind putting together the flat pack cabinet!
So after a little DIY and a lot of rearranging furniture, Mr. Jaws took up residence in his new home
As you can see Mr. Jaws is not the only one to really love his new tank! Poppy seems to think it’s a new heated bed just for her!
It’s quite sturdy though, so no chance of her falling through and getting up close and personal with Mr. Jaws!
However, all is not totally rosy in the underwater garden. Despite the new tank, or maybe because of it, Mr. Jaws seems to have developed a spot of bother, white spot in fact or Ich. He doesn’t seem too under the weather at the moment and I’m hoping if I get the treatment first thing tomorrow when the pet shop opens, he’ll make a full recovery.
Some Recent Photos
•April 26, 2009 • Leave a CommentThe ‘In-Laws’ were visiting recently and I’ve just changed jobs, so between one thing and another I’ve been fairly busy!
I have unfortunately been neglecting my poor old blog. And I’m not about to change that today, lol, as I don’t really have time to post
Instead I’m putting up a couple of recent photos. The top pic is of a lovely cat we came across while visiting the Rock of Cashel, the one to the left here is of course The Princess herself Poppy!
Both herself and Oliver are in good health and as always get up to new mischief daily!!
All Because the Lady Loves…Milk Tray (& cats!)
•February 24, 2009 • 3 CommentsFor Valentines day this year The Hubby got me a lovely big box of Milk Tray, because I have a very sweet tooth. So does he actually, which is probably why he ate almost half the box himself!! Turns out Oliver likes Milk Tray too
Or at least sleeping on top of the box! Just as well all the sweets were gone by the time I took this pic or they would have been reduced to Mush Tray instead of Milk Tray, hehehehe!
Wohooo!

Let’s PARTY!!!! lol!
The Cat’s Pyjamas
•February 9, 2009 • 1 CommentI seem to be wondering about truly random stuff lately. Not all of it cat related either! Maybe I really am turning in to a batty cat lady :p One of these random wanderings was on the phrase ‘the cats pyjamas’, as in ‘wow that’s so cool, it’s the cats pyjamas’!
Where do these phrases come from?? I pondered for a bit and then decided just to Google it
And this is what I found on Urban Dictionary
1.
Cats pyjamas
An adjective used by hipsters of the 1920’s to describe a person who is the best at what they do.
Also used to describe another person who is genial and fun to be with.
This term has been recently popularized by the movie ‘The School of Rock’.
Synonym: bees-knees
“Martin sure knows how to dance, he’s the cats pyjamas, man!”
by Mitch May 31, 2004
2.
cats pyjamas
1920s Lingo describing someone (something) who is great, incredible or special. Usually indicating stylishness or innovation. Pyjamas were a relatively new fashion in the 1920s. The term “cat” was beginning to be used as a term to describe the out going and unconventional jazz-age flappers.
That girl wearing those Paris Hilton sunglasses must think she’s the cats pyjamas.
Those crazy rhinestone studded platinum teeth are the cat’s pyjamas!
by Thomas the Bombest May 10, 2007
So it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with cats, as in felines. Other than cats are so cool that they started a trend in the English language
I still think that a cat in a pyjamas would be a pretty cool and funny thing to see though
Who Invented Cats eye Road Studs? – Percy Shaw Did!
•February 1, 2009 • Leave a CommentEver wondered where those road reflectors came from? Who invented them and why they came about? Well wonder no more!
The romantic version of the story of how the Yorkshire road mender Percy Shaw invented the Cats eye is that one foggy night in 1933 he was driving back to his home in the Boothtown area of Halifax from nearby Bradford when he hit a perilous stretch of road with a sheer drop down a hillside to the right of the road.
Drivers like Shaw usually depended on the reflection of their car headlights in tram tracks to guide them along the road, but the tracks had been removed for repair. It was so dark and foggy that Shaw could not see where the road ended and the hillside began, until suddenly he spotted in the darkness the reflections of his car headlamps in the eyes of a cat sitting by the road. It is then that he is said to have hit upon the idea for replicating the reflection of a cat’s eyes to guide drivers along dark and dangerous roads.
This story & more about Percy himself can be found at http://www.designmuseum.org/design/percy-shaw
